Campus Era Privacy Policy

Last Updated: July 28, 2026

Campus Era ("Campus Era", "we", "us", or "our") respects the privacy of its users and is committed to protecting personal information collected through the Campus Era mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Services").

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how it is used and shared, how long it may be retained, and the choices and rights available to users.

Campus Era is a student-focused platform intended primarily for college and university students. The platform enables students to create profiles, connect with other users, communicate through messaging features, share content, and access student-oriented services and information.

By accessing or using Campus Era, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

Campus Era operates from India. The service is currently operated under the name Campus Era. If the operating entity is formally incorporated or registered in the future, this Privacy Policy may be updated to reflect the legal entity responsible for the Services.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information that is necessary to provide, maintain, secure, and improve Campus Era and its features.

1.1 Account and Authentication Information

Users may create or access an account using: Google Sign-In; or an email address and password.

When email registration is used, an email verification process may be required before account activation or access to certain features.

Depending on the authentication method selected, we may receive or process information such as: name, email address, account authentication identifier, and basic account information made available through the selected sign-in method.

We do not receive or store a user's Google account password.

1.2 Profile Information

Users may provide information to create and personalize their Campus Era profile. This may include: name, username, profile photograph, university or college name, course or program, branch or field of study, academic year, biography or profile description, and phone number.

Some profile fields are optional.

The visibility of profile information may depend on the feature and the privacy controls made available within Campus Era. Certain information may be visible only to the account holder, while other profile information may be visible to other users where necessary for social, community, discovery, or communication features.

Users should avoid including sensitive personal information in public profile fields, biographies, posts, images, or other publicly visible content.

1.3 User-Generated Content

Campus Era may allow users to create, submit, upload, publish, or share content, including: text posts, post images, profile images, comments and replies, community contributions, messages, and other content made available through platform features.

We process this content to operate the relevant feature, display the content to its intended audience, maintain platform functionality, respond to reports, enforce platform rules, and protect users and the integrity of the Services.

Users are responsible for the information they choose to disclose through posts, profiles, comments, images, messages, or other user-generated content.

1.4 Messaging and Connection Requests

Campus Era may provide private communication between users.

Depending on the feature design, users may need to send and accept a connection or messaging request before private communication becomes available.

When users use messaging functionality, we may process: sender and recipient identifiers, message content, message timestamps, delivery or read status, connection request status, and information necessary to operate, secure, and maintain the messaging service.

Private messages are intended for the participating users. However, information may be accessed or disclosed where reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, respond to valid legal requirements, protect users, enforce platform policies, or maintain the security and integrity of Campus Era.

Users should not send passwords, financial credentials, government identification numbers, or other highly sensitive information through Campus Era messaging.

1.5 Images and Media

Users may upload profile photographs and images associated with posts or other supported features.

Uploaded media may be processed and stored using service providers acting on our behalf. Media may remain available for as long as the associated account or content remains active, subject to our retention and deletion practices.

Users should only upload images they have the right to use and should avoid uploading images containing unnecessary sensitive or confidential information.

1.6 Location-Related Functionality

Campus Era may provide location-related functionality to help users discover or view relevant student services, such as mess facilities, PG accommodation, or similar nearby services.

Some features may use stored geographic coordinates or open a third-party mapping application to display a location or provide navigation.

Campus Era does not claim to collect precise GPS location unless a feature actually requests and processes device location information. If a future version of the application requests device location permission or collects precise or approximate device location, users will be informed through appropriate permission requests and this Privacy Policy will be updated where required.

When a user opens a third-party map or navigation service, that service's own privacy practices apply to the information it processes.

1.7 Technical and Operational Information

When users interact with the Services, certain technical information may be processed automatically as necessary to operate and secure the platform. Depending on implementation, this may include: device and application information, operating system information, IP address, authentication and session information, timestamps, error and diagnostic information, security-related events, and information necessary to prevent spam, abuse, unauthorized access, or fraudulent activity.

We use such information for security, troubleshooting, service reliability, and platform administration.

2. How We Use Information

We may use information collected through Campus Era to: create and manage user accounts, authenticate users and verify email addresses, provide and personalize user profiles, enable connections and communication between users, operate connection requests and private messaging, display posts, images, comments, and other user-generated content, provide college and university-oriented community functionality, provide mess, PG, accommodation, or other student-oriented discovery features, display geographic locations and facilitate navigation where requested, send service-related communications and notifications, respond to support requests and account deletion requests, moderate content and investigate reports, detect spam, fraud, abuse, impersonation, or unauthorized access, maintain and improve platform functionality and reliability, enforce our Terms of Service, community standards, and other platform rules, comply with applicable legal obligations, and protect the rights, safety, and security of users, Campus Era, and others.

Our data practices are intended to be tied to specified service purposes. India's DPDP framework requires clear notice concerning the personal data processed and the purpose of processing, as well as mechanisms through which individuals can exercise applicable rights.

3. Anonymous Features

Campus Era may introduce features that allow users to post or interact anonymously or pseudonymously.

When a feature is described as "anonymous," this generally means that the user's identity is not displayed publicly to other ordinary users in connection with that content.

Anonymous posting should not be understood to mean that no account, technical, security, or moderation information exists. Campus Era may retain limited information necessary to: prevent abuse and spam, investigate serious violations, protect user safety, enforce platform policies, and comply with valid legal obligations.

We will not publicly reveal the identity associated with anonymous content merely because another user requests it. Information may be handled where required by law or where reasonably necessary for safety, security, and abuse prevention.

4. Notifications

Campus Era may send notifications relating to: messages and connection requests, interactions with user content, communities or discussions, important platform updates, student-oriented updates, mess or service updates, security and account activity, and other features selected or followed by the user.

Users may control certain notification permissions through their device settings and, where available, through application settings.

Some essential account, security, verification, or service communications may be delivered by email.

5. How We Share Information

Campus Era does not sell personal information to advertisers or data brokers.

Information may be shared in the following limited circumstances.

With Other Users

Information may be visible to other users where this is inherent to the feature being used. For example, profile information intended for discovery, public posts, comments, and shared images may be visible to their intended audience.

Private profile fields are not intended to be publicly displayed unless the user chooses to share them or a future feature clearly communicates otherwise.

With Service Providers

We may use service providers to support functions such as authentication, email verification, cloud infrastructure, database operations, media storage and delivery, notifications, security, and application operation.

These providers may process information only to the extent necessary to provide their services to Campus Era, subject to their applicable terms and privacy practices.

For Legal and Safety Reasons

We may preserve, access, or disclose information when reasonably necessary to: comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable government request; investigate fraud, abuse, harassment, threats, or security incidents; protect the rights and safety of Campus Era users or others; enforce our Terms of Service and platform rules; or defend legal claims.

Business Reorganization

If Campus Era is incorporated, reorganized, merged, acquired, financed, or transfers all or part of its operations, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law and appropriate privacy protections.

6. Public and Private Information

Users should understand the difference between public and private areas of Campus Era.

Content intentionally posted to public or community-facing areas may be viewed, copied, captured, or reshared by other users. Campus Era cannot control copies or screenshots created independently by other users.

Private messages and non-public account fields are handled as non-public information, subject to the limited operational, security, safety, and legal circumstances described in this Privacy Policy.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including providing the Services, maintaining security, resolving disputes, preventing abuse, and complying with legal obligations.

Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and the reason it is processed.

For example: account information may be retained while an account remains active; posts and uploaded images may be retained while the associated content remains active; messages may be retained as necessary to provide messaging functionality and maintain safety and integrity; security records may be retained for a reasonable period for fraud and abuse prevention; and information subject to a valid legal preservation obligation may be retained for the required period.

Following a valid deletion request, information associated with the account will be deleted or anonymized where reasonably possible, subject to legitimate legal, security, fraud-prevention, dispute-resolution, and technical backup requirements.

Residual copies may remain temporarily in backup systems before being overwritten through normal backup cycles.

8. Account and Data Deletion

Users may request deletion of their Campus Era account and associated personal data.

A user may initiate a deletion request through the deletion mechanism made available in the Campus Era application or through the account deletion page on the Campus Era website.

Users may also contact: support@campusera.in

To protect accounts against unauthorized deletion requests, Campus Era may require reasonable verification that the requester controls the relevant account or registered email address.

After verification, Campus Era will process the request within a reasonable period. Certain information may be retained where required by law or reasonably necessary for fraud prevention, security, dispute resolution, enforcement, or protection of other users.

9. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, loss, or misuse.

These measures may include authentication controls, email verification, access restrictions, secure communications, and security monitoring appropriate to the Services.

However, no internet transmission, software system, or storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Users are responsible for protecting their login credentials and should immediately report suspected unauthorized access.

10. User Responsibilities and Content Privacy

Campus Era is a community platform. Users should carefully consider what they share.

Users should not publicly post: passwords or authentication codes, bank or payment credentials, government-issued identification numbers, another person's private information without permission, private addresses or unnecessary precise location information, or confidential educational, employment, or personal documents.

Users should also respect the privacy and rights of other Campus Era users.

11. Student Audience and Age Considerations

Campus Era is intended for college and university students and is not designed as a service directed specifically toward young children.

12. Third-Party Services and External Links

Campus Era may interact with third-party services for functionality such as authentication, email delivery, maps and navigation, media delivery, notifications, or infrastructure.

When users intentionally leave Campus Era or open an external application, website, map, or service, the third party's own terms and privacy practices apply.

Campus Era is not responsible for the privacy practices of independent third-party websites or services.

13. User Rights and Choices

Subject to applicable law and appropriate identity verification, users may request to: access information about personal data processed in connection with their account, correct or update inaccurate profile information, request deletion of their account and associated personal data, withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, raise a privacy-related grievance or complaint, and exercise other rights available under applicable law.

Requests may be sent to support@campusera.in.

The Indian DPDP Act includes provisions addressing notice, consent, access to information, correction and erasure, and grievance redressal.

14. International Processing

Some service providers used to operate Campus Era may process or store information on infrastructure located outside the user's state or country.

Where such processing occurs, we seek to use services and arrangements appropriate to the nature of the information and applicable legal requirements.

15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

Campus Era may update this Privacy Policy when: new features are introduced, data practices change, legal or regulatory requirements change, new categories of information are processed, or changes are necessary to improve transparency.

The revised policy will be published through the Campus Era website or application with an updated "Last Updated" date.

Where required, users may also be informed through an in-app notice, email, or other appropriate communication.

Continued use of the Services after an update will be subject to the updated policy to the extent permitted by applicable law.
